25.05

May 2025 · in the Chrome Web Store since May 19, 2025

  • RiddR respects the language you set. A bug made it detect the language by itself even when you had chosen one. Thanks to Mickal Morthorst for the report.
  • Removed an optional permission, identity, that RiddR did not use.

0.5 to 0.5.3

June 2024 to March 2025

  • The Manifest V3 rebuild. RiddR moved to Chrome’s current extension platform: the background became a service worker and audio now plays from an offscreen reader.
  • Long pauses no longer lose your place: RiddR keeps its service worker awake while reading is paused.
  • SpeakIt reports what it is reading to the system media controls.
  • SpeakIt reads Portuguese from Portugal and from Brazil as separate languages.
  • For engine developers: speech events now carry a length value.
  • The old Manifest V2 code was removed, with many small fixes along the way.
